QUARANTINE HOME PROJECTS: UPGRADING YOUR HOME HARDWARE
I’ve been working on so many home projects during this pandemic. I don’t know about you but this has been the most amount of time I’ve spent at home in years. I took full advantage of this opportunity by updating different areas of my home while providing you all with some easy, budget-friendly tips. I truly love the way I’ve designed my home but if you have been in your space long enough like I have, this is the perfect time to tackle some areas of your home that could use a redesign or some enhancements. I absolutely love home projects and believe it or not there are some you can do on your own. Here are some of my tips on how to make upgrades without breaking the bank. Let’s start by upgrading your hardware.
Hardware
Faucets, doorknobs, drawer pulls, and hooks may seem trivial, but you would be surprised how much of a difference simply changing the hardware will make in your space. I will walk you through a few ways that hardware alone can give an updated look.
Door Knobs
If you want to give your room entrance and upgrade, start with your doorknobs. A new doorknob really sets the tone for what someone should expect when entering the room - luxury. Depending on what style or quality you’re looking for, doorknobs can range from $9 to $150. HomeGoods, Amazon, and At Home are some of my favorite stores to find affordable doorknobs.
For those of you who already love your current doorknobs, but would prefer a different color, go to your home improvement store to purchase the spray paint color of your choice. I find this to be the least expensive route to go. For this process to be most effective, remove the doorknob first, spray paint it, let it dry, and then reinstall. You might think that’s common sense, but short cuts never end well, especially when you are using spray paint.
Faucets
The Delta Trinsic design is a very popular faucet in modern homes. Now I must admit, they are not the cheapest faucets to purchase, but it is a less expensive upgrade than renovating your kitchen. The combination of the taller design, pull-down hose, two spray options, and single handle also allows for more functionality. Definitely a win-win if you ask me.
If you already have a Delta Trinsic faucet and want to change the color to match your new kitchen cabinet hardware simply purchase the matching spray paint. As I mentioned with the door knobs, this is very easy and budget-friendly change.
I hope you all enjoyed a few of my budget-friendly upgrade suggestions. Stay tuned for my next post as we will explore more home upgrades you can do during the quarantine.
